Career Opportunity: Structural Steel Detailer
- Job Purpose
- Produces detailed drawings for steel fabricators (shop drawings) and steel erectors (erection drawings)
- Prepares detailed plans, drawings and other documents for the manufacture and erection of steel members (columns, beams, braces, trusses, stairs, handrails, joists, metal decking
- Detail structural and plate steel, and miscellaneous metals
- Work closely with architects, engineers, general contractors and steel fabricators
- Managing employee schedules to ensure that projects are delivered to meet customers timeframes
- Comply with the requirements of the design drawings and with all industry standards and protocols
- Problem solve
- Maintain an organized drawing and job file system keeping track of drawings for approval, approved, and in production
- Communicate with all relevant people – architects/shop floor/steel erector
- Responsible for any drawing requirements for temporary works and site changes
- Operate to the Drawing Office standards for all work and ensure that the deliverable deadlines are achieved
- Work closely with the clients Production team to ensure that the drawings produced are compatible

- Perform structural and miscellaneous steel detail checking to ensure the drawings conform to the projection specifications, engineering requirements, standards, and operational specific specifications

- Be able to create and maintain check lists, graphs and reports for monitoring checking requirements
- Work with Engineering and Design teams to resolve discrepancies

- A third level qualification in Civil or Structural Engineering
- Competent steel detailer, with a minimum of 3 years working experience with Tekla Structures is an advantage
- Project management experience of managing projects from inception through all stages to completion
- A good communicator with all the relevant personal (architects, engineers, contractors, fabricators), to ensure delivery timescales are met
- Full Drivers licence
