McMenamin Engineering supply structural steel and cladding for new Ardara Distillery

McMenamin Engineering were delighted to supply and erect the structural steel and cladding for the Sliabh Liag Distillers build in Ardara, Co. Donegal. Sliabh Liag, the first distilling company in Donegal in over 175 years, are the creators of The Legendary Silkie Irish Whiskey and An Dulaman Gin.

Among the many passionate contributors to these award-winning spirits are James and Moira Doherty, who had a clear vision of their ideal distillery. Working closely with James and Moira, and Cornerstone Architecture, McMenamin turned their concepts into reality with some bespoke cladding details, such as continuous ridges on panel and roof pagoda’s.
The adventure began in 2014 for the couple, when they moved back to Donegal with a dream of setting up a distillery in beautiful West Donegal, James’s parents’ ancestral home. They settled in Carrick and due to their passion and determination, the Legendary Silkie Irish Whiskey was launched within 2 short years. Within a year, and while settling in and planning a new distillery, An Dulaman Irish Maritime Gin was created.
Fast forward to 2021, and Sliabh Liag Distillers are expanding with support from their investors, the local community and huge amounts of passion and drive from James and Moira. With numerous gold and silver awards for their whiskey & gin, and the addition of Assaranca Vodka to the range, Sliabh Liag products are being enjoyed by customers all over the world. On top of all that, they are close to moving into their new distillery home in Ardara.
